Train Your Brain — Without Medication, Without Guesswork

What if you could actually see what your brain is doing — and then teach it to work better?

That’s the idea behind neurofeedback. It’s not science fiction, and it’s not new. It’s a decades-old, research-backed approach to brain training that’s now more accessible and more precise than ever — and it’s available right here at New Concepts II.

What Is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is a form of neurotherapy that trains your brainwaves to achieve a healthier state — kind of like exercise, but for your brain.

It works by intercepting and offering you direct feedback on your brain activity — a highly personalized way to train the brain and improve performance.

Here’s the simple version: your brain produces electrical signals that reflect your mental state. Neurofeedback measures those signals, identifies patterns that may be getting in your way, and uses real-time audio and visual feedback to guide your brain toward healthier, more balanced activity. Over time, your brain learns — and those changes carry over into everyday life.

How Does a Session Work?

Small sensors are placed on your head to listen to patterns of electrical activity — your brainwaves — which are associated with different levels of consciousness, including anxiety, alertness, sleep, and focus.

That raw brain activity is then separated into distinct brainwaves associated with particular mental states — for example, alpha brainwaves typically signify a relaxed state.

From there, a customized neurofeedback protocol is built around your specific brain activity and goals. During your session, you receive feedback on your performance in real time through visual and auditory cues — videos or games that respond directly to what your brain is doing.

From an observer’s perspective, you may appear to simply be relaxing and playing video games — but your brain is actually doing hard work. When your brain activity moves into the target range, you’re rewarded with positive feedback. When it drifts, the feedback shifts. Gradually, your brain learns to self-regulate.

No electricity enters the brain. No medication is involved. It is entirely non-invasive.

What Can Neurofeedback Help With?

Neurofeedback has been studied and used clinically for decades across a wide range of conditions and goals. It may be helpful for anxiety, depression, ADHD symptoms, sleep disorders, addiction, and chronic pain — and may also improve cognitive functioning, promote relaxation, reduce stress, and boost overall wellbeing. At New Concepts II, we offer neurofeedback as a complementary tool for patients managing:

Anxiety and stress — calming an overactive or dysregulated nervous system
Depression — supporting mood regulation alongside other treatments
ADHD — improving attention, focus, and impulse control
PTSD and trauma — helping the brain move out of chronic stress patterns
Sleep difficulties — retraining brainwave patterns that interfere with rest
Addiction recovery — supporting brain regulation as part of a broader care plan
General cognitive wellness — sharper focus, better memory, greater mental clarity

What to Expect

Neurofeedback is not a one-session fix — and we want to set honest expectations from the start. Most people train between 20 and 40 sessions, with results typically becoming noticeable within 2 to 6 months depending on the individual.

Many patients describe the process as gradual but cumulative — small shifts that add up to meaningful changes in how they think, feel, and function.

A typical neurofeedback journey at New Concepts II looks like this:

  1. Initial Evaluation — We assess your brain activity patterns and discuss your goals and health history.
  2. Custom Protocol — Your care provider designs a personalized neurofeedback training plan.
  3. Regular Sessions — You complete sessions consistently, with your progress monitored throughout.
  4. Ongoing Adjustments — Your protocol is refined as your brain responds and your goals evolve.
